Badminton champions in Europe and Asia are set to be crowned with two major continental competitions beginning tomorrow.

The European Badminton Championships will take place at the Sydbank Arena in Kolding in Denmark with the Wuhan Sports Center Gymnasium in China hosting the Badminton Asia Championships.

A host of big names will compete with Spain's Rio 2016 Olympic champion Carolina Marin hoping to clinch her third European women's singles title in a row.

The top seed will begin in the second round with a clash against Jordan Hart of Wales.

Marin's biggest challenger could be second-seeded compatriot Beatriz Corrales, who will face Mariya Mitsova of Bulgaria in her opening contest.

The men's competition could see home success with top seed Viktor Axelsen looking to defend his crown.

The Olympic bronze medallist will face either Lucas Corvée of France or Bernardo Atilano of Portugal in round two to begin his campaign.

Fourth-seed Hans-Kristian Vittinghus is also likely to be a major challenger for Denmark, with England's second seed Rajiv Ouseph and German third seed Marc Zwiebler also in contention.
