Karl Cook of the United States will be the last to go in the jumping competition at the International Equestrian Federation (FEI) World Cup Finals after the draw for the event was conducted in American host city Omaha.

The US rider helped carry out the draw for the event, along with Laura Kraut, a team gold medallist at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.

He will be the 37th and last competitor to take to the course in Omaha for the crucial World Cup Finals event at the CenturyLink Center.

"Winning it is always difficult, and we've got so many of the best riders in the world here," said America's Kraut.

Switzerland's Steve Guerdat, the London 2012 Olympic Games individual gold medallist, will come into the competition bidding to become only the fifth three-time champion in the 39-year history of the prestigious series.

The Swiss star, who won the individual jumping competition at last year's event in Gothenburg, has been drawn as the 32nd rider.

The draw has also been made for the dressage event, running alongside the jumping in Omaha, with Germany's Isabell Werth among the leading names set to compete.

Werth, a six-time Olympic gold medallist, has the advantage as she will enter the arena last of the 16 athletes who have entered the World Cup Finals.

America's Laura Graves, who finished fourth at last year's Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, will carry the hopes of the host nation.

The event, which has attracted representatives from 25 countries, brings together the world’s top horses and riders, with crowds of up to 60,000 expected over the course of the competition.

Action began today with the first FEI World Cup Jumping Final in the jumping speed class, as well as the dressage Grand Prix.

The World Cup Finals are scheduled to conclude on Sunday (April 2).
