Yehoshua Dekel has been elected President of the Israel Paralympic Committee after he was chosen to replace Danny Ben Abu.

The former Head of the Sport Authority at the Israeli Ministry of Education, Culture, and Sports will be tasked with overseeing Israel's preparations for the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games.

Ben Abu retired after 13 years in the role.

Elsewhere, nine-time Paralympic swimming medallist Inbal Pezaro was chosen to become an athlete representative at the governing body.

It means the organisation will have the voice of one of their star Paralympians.

Pezaro won SB4 100 metres breaststroke silver and S5 200m freestyle bronze at the 2004 Games in Athens.

Her best performance came in Beijing four years later, where she claimed three silver medals in the 100m freestyle, 200m freestyle and 100m breaststroke events.

The 30-year-old earned three bronze medals at London 2012 and won a solitary bronze at last year's Games in Rio de Janeiro.

"I take this job very seriously and I want to think about how it can be used to make an impact," said Pezaro.

Dekel will be tasked with improving on Israel's medal haul from the Rio 2016 Paralympics, where the country claimed three medals, including Pezaro's bronze.

Shooter Doron Shaziri clinched third spot on the podium in the men's 50m rifle three positions SH1 event, while Moran Samuel earned bronze in the women's single sculls competition.

Israel have won a total of 375 Paralympic medals - 123 gold, 123 bronze and 129 bronze.
