Hosts Brazil showed superb table tennis form on the second full day of competition at the Youth Parapan American Games in São Paulo.

Paralympic bronze medallist Danielle Rauen thrived again on a home court by beating Chilean opponent Ailyn Espinosa 3-0 in the women's singles class 9-10 final.

Gustavo Laskosky claimed a less expected victory in the men's class 7 event.

He beat Costa Rican second seed Steven Roman 3-2 in the final.

“It was important to have the support of the crowd,” said Laskosky afterwards.

“I had not lost a single set in the previous matches but conceded the first set in the final.

"But, after that, the Brazilian crowd started cheering for me louder and that motivated me and made my rival feel more nervous.”

Colombia’s Alejandro Gomez was another winner in the men's singles class 1-4 event.

He remained unbeaten throughout in the round-robin format to finish in front of Argentina's Lucas Melia.

Colombia also claimed two powerlifting gold medals.

Brayan Arley Rivera Mirque triumphed in the under 59 kilograms category with a total of 67kg.

Miguel Alejandro Pena Gutierrez of Mexico took silver with 61kg while bronze was taken by Maikol Marino of Venezuela, with 60.

Oscar Andres Grueso Herrera lifted 115kg to comfortably win the under 72kg competition.

Vinicius De Freitas of Brazil took silver with 105kg.

Jesus Michael Olguin of Argentina managed 65kg for bronze.

There was better news for Brazil today in football 5-a-side.

The host nation bounced back from their loss to Argentina with a 2-1 win over Colombia.
