Belgium's Yves Lampaert led a one-two for his Quick-Step Floors team at the Dwars door Vlaanderen race on home soil today.

Philippe Gilbert, another Belgian, crossed the line in second to give the team first and second in the 203.4 kilometres race that started in Roeselare and finished in Waregem.

It was Gilbert who made the earliest move of the Belgian pair on the Berendries climb with nearly 80km left to race.

Alexey Lutsenko of the Astana team and Orica-Scott's Luke Durbridge were the only two who managed to stay with the Belgian duo after they made the break.

With 17km to go, the lead group's gap was out to 1 min and 14sec before Gilbert attacked first with 9.4km left to the finish line.

However, Lampaert launched a ferocious counter-attack with just 7.4km to go and his rivals had no response.

Lampaert increased his lead as the finish approached and went on to win in a time of 4 hours 47mins 26sec.

Lutsenko completed the podium while Durbridge occupied fourth.

"For me it’s a dream that came true," Lampaert told cycling news.

"It’s not that far from my home and I did a lot of recons to do this race.

"To win, for me it’s a fantastic gift that I can give to the team and thanks to everybody."

In the women's race, Cervelo-Bigla’s Lotta Lepisto secured her first win of 2017.

The 27-year-old rider from Finland won the 114.4km race in a final sprint in a time of 2:55:40.

Orica-Scott’s Gracie Elvin of Australia was second ahead of Germany's Lisa Brennauer of Canyon-SRAM, who finished third.

Brennauer's team-mate Hannah Barnes of Great Britain tried a solo attack with about four kilometres remaining, but she failed to break away from the leaders.

The Briton was caught before the final kilometre, handing Lepisto the chance to snatch victory in the closing moments which she successfully did.
