Torin Yater-Wallace and Marie Martinod backed up their performances in qualifying as the duo won the International Ski Federation (FIS) Freestyle Skiing World Cup halfpipe event at the Bokwang Phoenix Park.

They had topped the leaderboards in the men’s and women’s competition two days ago to reach the final at the venue.

Both freestyle skiers would continue where they left off today to earn victories in the World Cup, with the event also doubling as a Pyeongchang 2018 test event.

Martinod, the Sochi 2014 silver medallist, moved straight to the top of the women’s standings as the French skier achieved a score of 91.60 in the first run.

While her second and third runs were not of the same standard, Martinod had already done enough to secure the victory.

Devin Logan went closest to overhauling the World Cup leader, but the American have to settle for second place in 86.80.

Japan’s Ayana Onozuka completed the podium by achieving a score of 84.00 in her second run of the competition.

Matinod has now won all three halfpipe events on the World Cup circuit, giving her a total of 300 points heading into the final competition in Tignes next month.

The men’s competition in Pyeongchang was won by Yater-Wallace, with the American freestyle skier being rewarded with a score of 95.60 in the first round of the event.

It would prove enough to fend off the challenge of his rivals, despite his team-mate Aaron Bluck going close to bettering his score.

The American achieved 94.40 for his third run, which saw him finish as the runner-up.

France’s Benoit Valentin edged out his compatriot Kevin Rolland to take bronze, with the pair scoring 92.60 and 91.40 respectively.

Yater-Wallce now leads the overall World Cup standings with 218 points, with Blunck second on 190.

Snowboard halfpipe finals are set to take place tomorrow in Pyeongchang.
