Josep Antoni Guerra Álvarez has been elected the new secretary general and Jaume Martì Mandicò has retained his position as President of the Olympic Committee of Andorra (COA).

Alvarez was chosen to replace Manuel Fernandez Hermoso at the General Assembly of Andorran sport in Andorra-la-Veilla.

Mandicò will head of the COA, who have also chosen a fresh set of Executive Board members.

They are all due to serve four-year terms leading up to the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo.

Albert Coma Zamboni is first vice-president of the COA and Jordi Cerqueda Sierra was elected the second vice-president.

Jordi Minguillon Capdevila will perform the role of treasurer.

Francesc Garcia Garcia, Ferran Riu Minguella, Eva Rodríguez Machado, Joan Tomàs Roca, Lluís Torralba Massip i Jordi Verdaguer Ferré have all been elected to the Executive Board.

Hermoso had played a key role within the COA, serving as Chef de Mission of the Andorran team which competed at the inaugural European Games in Baku in 2015.

Andorra sent a total of 31 competitors to the event in the Azerbaijani capital but did not win a medal.

They competed in 3x3 basketball, athletics, road cycling, judo, shooting and swimming.

Andorra are still chasing their first-ever Summer or Winter Olympic Games medal.

A total of five athletes in four sports represented the country, which has a population of around 70,000 people, at Rio 2016.
