Eduardo Palomo has been re-elected as President of the National Olympic Committee of El Salvador (ESNOC).

He defeated sole rival Yamil Bukele by 32 votes to 15 at an Ordinary General Assembly in capital San Salvador.

Forty-one sporting governing bodies attended the event, with Palomo elected for a third four-year term.

"First of all, I thank God, and then all of you for how the Assembly has been conducted," he said.

"Sport is giving an example to all El Salvador, how can we lead a institution if the differences are exposed in a framework of respect.

"I want to thank Yamil and the group of Federations for their desire to come here, the Olympic Committee belongs to everyone, it has won the Olympics."
