Egypt's Nayel Nassar claimed an International Equestrian Federation (FEI) World Cup Jumping victory on board Lordan in Wellington in the United States.

Nassar won the sixth leg of the North American League Eastern Sub-League season after a jump-off featuring ten horse and rider combinations.

Five pairings involved in the jump-off produced a clear round again, but it was Nassar who clocked the quickest time of 38.15sec.

American Laura Krut came second on home soil in Florida, finishing the jump-off in a time of 39.92sec with Zeremonie.

Spain's Sergio Alvarez Moya and Arrayan were third in a time of 39.95sec.

"Lordan is just hitting his stride," said Nassar.

"I’'ve always wanted to come back out here.

"I just needed a proper horse.

"I thought a couple of my sales horses were better suited for out here, so it made sense for the string that I have to be here.

"Also, there aren’t enough FEI events in California and I’m getting back up in the ranking list.

“Honestly, it doesn’t get much better than this.

"I didn’t expect this.

"It’s his first show of the year.

"He’s such an incredible trier, and I know him like the back of my hand at this point.

"We jumped clear in the first round, we were just going to give it a go in the jump off.

"I was lucky enough to watch Sergio go right before me and I knew what we had to do and I just let it rip and he answered the questions."

Nassar has now overtaken Mexico’s Enrique Gonzalez in the Western Sub-League standings, as jumpers attempt to qualify for the overall final in Omaha.

Kent Farrington of the US still leads the Eastern section.
