Hosts Sweden powered into the final of the 2017 Bandy World Championship as they thrashed Norway 17-2 at the Göransson Arena in Sandviken.

Sweden will meet Russia in tomorrow’s gold medal contest after they overcame Finland 6-4 in a closely-fought last four encounter.

The Russians, the dominant nation in the sport in recent years, will have the opportunity to secure a fifth consecutive title.

They won the tournament in 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016 and have a total of 10 World Championship crowns.

Sweden have 11 gold medals to their name, with their last victory coming at the 2012 edition of the competition in Almaty in Kazakhstan.

The host nation dominated their clash with their Scandinavian rivals from start to finish as they found the net with ease.
