Los Angeles 2024 have vowed to ensure 100 per cent of spectators travelling to venues will arrive on public transport or Games-related transport systems should they secure the hosting rights for the Olympics and Paralympics.

They claim their project will help “restore the credibility of the Games hosting process via its sustainable plan that maximises existing venues and offers a no surprises, low-risk Games Concept”.

The Bid Committee made the transport promise during their third candidature file, which focuses specifically on "Games Delivery, Experience and Venue Legacy”.

It could be interpreted as an attempt to quell fears over the high volumes of traffic across the city, which is locked in a three-way battle for the 2024 Games alongside Paris and Budapest.

Los Angeles 2024 have also targeted “minimising the reliance on private car use” to limit Games-time disruption.

Proposed ticket prices have also been revealed as part of the third candidature file, with Opening Ceremony seats set to cost an average of nearly $1,800 (£1,400/€1,700).

Los Angeles are proposing holding Opening Ceremonies across two venues – the Memorial Coliseum and the Los Angeles Stadium in Inglewood – as part of an “innovative” Games concept.

The Coliseum, which Los Angeles 2024 chief executive Gene Sykes claimed would be the “best track and field stadium in the world”, is set to cost an estimated $117 million (£93.7 million/€108 million) in renovation work, including the installation of a raised track.

Athletics finals are due to cost an average of $457 (£366/€423), with swimming finals, which would be held at a temporary venue at University of Southern California, costing an average of $420 (£336/€389).

Beach volleyball gold medal match prices have been set at an average of $166 (£133/€154), while basketball finals will set spectators back around $250 (£200/€232) should Los Angeles win the bid.

Golf preliminaries offer the cheapest average price at just $13.12 (£11/€12).

“Ticket prices are based on London 2012's prices, adjusted for inflation and exchange rate, with some additional adjustments based on the popularity of certain sports in the Los Angeles market,” a Los Angeles 2024 spokesperson said.

“With 12 million tickets available at a variety of prices, all Angelenos will be able to afford tickets to the Games.

“Approximately 25 per cent of all Olympic competition tickets are priced below $50 (£40/€46), with the average lowest tier ticket price across all Olympic competition preliminary and final events at $52 (£42/€48)."

The Bid Committee also believe they have a ready-made target audience and database for tickets due to the sporting landscape in the city, which boasts professional teams across basketball, ice hockey, American football and baseball.

Los Angeles 2024 have also proposed using the University of California Riverside as a satellite village for athletes who would compete in canoeing and kayaking at Lake Perris.

The university, which is a 20-minute bus ride to the venue, will offer the same experience as at the main Olympic village, Los Angeles 2024 claim.

As part of an “athlete-centred project”, Los Angeles 2024 have vowed to create a concierge wireless device, which would allow competitors to order meals, find out where the shortest lines for food are at dining halls and locate their next shuttle bus.

Athletes would also be given two complimentary tickets to each of their events, a first for an Olympic Games, while family and friends will be able to stay at a village close by at a subsidised cost.

"The world is entering an era of unprecedented change and uncertainty, and that is why we believe that the 2024 Games must serve the Olympic Movement far beyond 2024," Los Angeles 2024 said.

"The 2024 Games must help restore the credibility of the Games, ensure financial stability for the Olympic Movement and create new opportunities to engage with young people around the world.

"Compelling new Olympic narratives around fiscal responsibility, community partnerships, world-leading sustainability, youth engagement across diverse cultures, celebrity endorsement and new technologies will help elevate the image of the Olympic Movement and reassert its value to our world."

The International Olympic Committee is due to elect a host city at the Session in Lima on September 13.
