Defending champions Cuba Domadores will begin the defence of their World Series of Boxing (WSB) title tomorrow when they square off against Caciques Venezuela in front of their own fans in Havana.

The Group A clash will take place at the Coliseo Ciudad Deportiva in the boxing-mad nation, with Cuba hoping for more success after their 9-1 aggregate success over British Lionhearts in last year's final.

Cuba's team will be headlined by Rio 2016 middleweight gold medallist Arlen Lopez, who will meet Venezuela's Keiber Gonzalez.

Johnays Argilagos will be Cuba's boxer at light-flyweight, squaring off against Venezuela's Jefferson Blanco.

At bantamweight, Cuba will be represented by Javier Ibanez Diaz, who will battle with Yoni Blanco of Venezuela.

Light welterweight action will see Andy Cruz Gomez fight for Cuba against Venezuela's Yoelviz Hernandez, with the evening's heavyweight contest pitting Erislandy Savon of Cuba against Venezuela's Ronald Gonzalez.

This year's WSB season will see 12 teams competing across three zonal groups, with boxers competing across five rounds.

The top two teams from each group and the two strongest third-placed sides will qualify for the play-offs, which assume the format of four quarter-finals, two semi-finals and the grand final in June.

Another Group A contest will also begin tomorrow, with Argentina Condors welcoming Colombia Heroicos to the National Boxing Federation Stadium in Buenos Aires.

Group B fixtures will begin on Saturday (February 4), when Russia's Patriot Boxing Team entertain Astana Arlans Kazakhstan at Moscow's Dinamo Krylatskoy.

On the same day, the Uzbek Tigers will travel to face China Dragons at the Yalong Bay Conference Center in Sanya.

European and African teams will enter the fray in Group C next week, with Italia Thunder hosting last year's runners-up the Lionhearts at Palasport Vespucci in Rome on February 9.

On February 10, Morocco Atlas Lions will welcome France Fighting Roosters to Salle du 11 Janvier in Fes.
