Great Britain's Ben Saxton and Nicola Groves enjoyed a superb day in the Nacra 17 competition at the 2017 Sailing World Cup in Miami.

The first day of racing for the pair included two poor finishes and a race they were forced to retire from after sailing the wrong course.

Today's performance, though, was far better from the duo, ninth at Rio 2016, as they claimed a third and a first place to secure four points which was the best among the 17-boat fleet.

They moved up to fourth overall, six points behind Lorenzo Bressani and Caterina Marianna Banti of Italy and fellow Britons Tom Phipps and Nicola Boniface, who are tied for first.

Nico Delle-Karth and Laura Schöfegger of Austria are in third after claiming a second and a fourth today.

"We haven't been in the boat for about five months since the Olympic Games," said Saxton.

"We feel a bit rusty compared to the guys that have been training though the autumn.

"Some of these guys are a little bit slicker than us.

"I think it'll set us up well to be here."

Jorge Zarif of Brazil, the defending champion in the Finn class, scored a second and a first in today's two races and now leads the regatta by three points over Alican Kanyar of Turkey and Ben Cornish of Great Britain.

After opening the regatta with a 17th place finish, Britain's Dylan Fletcher-Scott and Stuart Bithell have claimed four top-four finishes and now hold a four-point lead over Yago and Klaus Lange of Argentina in the 49er class.

Sweden's Carl Sylvan and Marcus Anjemark lie in third.

It remains very tight at the top of the laser competition with Frenchman Jean Baptiste Bernaz and Karl Martin Rammo of Estonia tied for first with 12 points apiece.

Great Britain's Nick Thompson is third with 15 points.

Greece's Vasileia Karachaliou is second with seven points, while Erika Reineke of the United States had a strong day to surge into third with 19.

Kiran Badloe of The Netherlands continued his consistent performance in the men's RS:X class with a pair of second-place finishes and a first today.

He now has eight points while Italian Daniele Beneditti is second with 15 points, one ahead of Louis Giard in third.

China's Yunxiu Lu was nearly untouchable in the women's RS:X with two second place finishes and a first.

She now has 12 points and has opened up an 11-point lead over second place Isobel Hamilton of Great Britain.

Hei Man H V Chan of Hong Kong is in third, two points further back.

Greece's Pangiotis Mantis and Pavlos Kagialis finished second and then first in the day's men's 470 races, and have moved into the lead as a result.

Mathias Schmid and Lukas Mähr of Austria are in second, just a point behind.

In the women's 470 fleet, three teams are in a tight battle at the top of the leaderboard within one point of one another.

Dutch duo Afrodite Zegers and Annaloes Van Veen are first with Bàrbara Cornudella Ravetllat and Sara López Ravetllat of Spain tied on points with Sophie Weguelin and Eilidh McIntyre of Great Britain.

The men's RS:X and 49er are scheduled to race first at 11am local time as the action continues from Regatta Park in Coconut Grove tomorrow.
