Enni Rukajärvi of Finland and Canada's Sebastien Toutant booked their places in the women's and men's slopestyle finals respectively with impressive performances at the International Ski Federation (FIS) Snowboard Freestyle World Cup event in Laax in Switzerland.

Rukajärvi, who won slopestyle silver at the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympic Games, topped the standings in her semi-final with a best score of 85.41 points.

Her routine delighted the crowd at the venue as it featured a frontside 720 tail, backside 540 stalefish and a cab 720 indy.

The 26-year-old, world champion in 2011, will battle it out with five other snowboarders in Friday's (January 20) final, including current FIS Snowboard Freestyle World Cup leader Anna Gasser of Austria.

Gasser, who earned silver at last year's World Championships in La Molina in Spain, was third with a best effort of 77.43.

She finished behind Hailey Langland of the United States, who scored 82.70.

The trio will be joined in the final by two other Americans - Julia Marino and Olympic champion Jamie Anderson - and Klaudia Medlova of Slovakia.

Double X Games gold medallist Toutant emerged from the 24-man semi-final at the summit of the leaderboard as his routine was rewarded with 85.48.

Toutant's compatriot Mark McMorris, Olympic slopestyle bronze medallist at Sochi 2014, could only manage second on a total of 83.60 points.

The Canadian dominance was completed by Max Parrot, who clinched third with a score of 83.33.

Fellow Canadians Darcy Sharpe, Tyler Nicholson, Max Eberhardt and Michael Ciccarelli have also made it through to the 12-strong final, which is scheduled to take place on the same day as the women's event.

Red Gerard of the United States, Swedish duo Sven Thorgren and Mans Hedberg, Norwegian snowboarder Marcus Kleveland and home favourite Moritz Thoenen make up the list of qualified athletes for the final.

The event in Laax continues tomorrow with finals in the men's and women's halfpipe.
