Norway and Germany each enjoyed crushing victories today to reach the last 16 of the International Handball Federation (IHF) World Championships in France.

Norway romped past Brazil 39-26 in today's Group A clash at the Exponantes - Hall XXL in Nantes.

Sander Sagosen led the way with seven goals as the Scandinavians capitalised on a tiring South American defence to build-upon a 39-26 half-time lead.

In Group C, Germany continued their unbeaten record with a 38-24 victory over Saudi Arabia at the Kindarena in Rouen.

They now sit joint top of the group alongside Croatia, winners yesterday against Belarus.

Poland also won 26-25 against Japan in Group A in Nantes in a battle between two eliminated teams already eliminated.

Hosts France also maintained their 100 per cent start with a 34-24 win over Russia in Nantes later today.

Slovenia maintained their unbeaten record in Group B but dropped points for the first time in a 28-28 draw with Tunisia at the Arenes de Metz.

Iceland later beat Angola 33-19 in the same venue.

Tunisia currently occupy the fourth qualifying spot, despite having not yet won a game.

Qatar also sealed a spot in the last 16 by winning today's only Group D encounter against Argentina.

They led 9-2 at half-time before finishing as 21-17 winners at the AccorHotels Arena in Paris.

Three more days of round-robin action are due to take place before elimination matches begin on Saturday (January 21).
