Sweden continued their impressive start to the World Floorball Championships today as they coasted past Scandinavian rivals Norway 8-2 at the Arena Riga in the Latvian capital.

After defeating hosts Latvia 6-2 on the opening day of the tournament, the defending champions doubled their tally this evening.

Two goals from Johannes Larsson and Alexander Galante Carlstrom set Sweden on their way to a commanding victory.

That took them joint top of Group B alongside the Czech Republic, with the two sides squaring off tomorrow to decide who takes top spot.

Finland made it three wins out of three in Group A today as they brushed aside Estonia 10-3 to secure first place.

A hat-trick from Peter Kotilainen and two goals by Mika Moilanen set the Finnish team on their way.

The biggest win of today arrived in Group C where Slovakia thrashed Australia 12-2 to progress to the knock-out rounds.

Michal Dudovic scored four while Daniel Gartner added two in what was a dominant performance by the Europeans.

Elsewhere in Group C, Denmark squeezed past Poland 4-2 to also advance.

Completing today's action was a solitary contest in Group D.

A late strike by Bill Petrie proved decisive as Canada claimed the two points in a 5-4 win over Thailand which puts them in pole position to take second place before the final round of matches tomorrow.

Tomorrow sees the conclusion of the group stage round with six matches scheduled in Riga to decide who progresses to the next stage.

The top two teams in Groups A and B will directly advance to the quarter-finals while teams placed third and fourth in these groups as well as teams placed first and second in Groups C and D will then compete in the first play-off round.

The winners of those games will then complete the quarter-final line up.

The WFC 2016 will also act as a qualifying event for the 2017 World Games with the gold, silver and bronze medallists all going through to the event.
