Kazakhstan enjoyed a superb day of competition at the International Boxing Association (AIBA) Youth World Championships in Saint Petersburg today.

Four boxers from the Central Asian nation enjoyed victories on the latest day of preliminary bouts at the Sibur Arena.

This included over-91 kilograms super heavyweight Aiboldy Daurenuly, who disappointed the home crowd in the 7,000 capacity venue with a 5-0 points verdict over Russian rival Vladislav Kazmuravin.

Under-56kg bantamweight Samatali Venoltayev and under-69kg welterweight Sadriddin Uzbakhmedov also enjoyed 5-0 points wins.

Venoltayev overcame Venezuela's Jhoinner Bonilla Martinez while Uzbakhmedov beat Ulugbek Sobirov of Uzbekistan.

Bek Nurmaganbet was also awarded a 4-1 victory over Ukrainian opponent Dmytro Kazrybalko in the under-75kg middleweight division.

There was something for the home crowd to celebrate in the under-56kg bantamweight division.

There, Russia's Nikita Thapiskunov battled to a 5-0 victory over Thailand opponent Pluem Wangkhlaklang. 

Other winners today included Englishman Mohammed Harris Akbar, who was awarded a 5-0 points verdict over Scottish opponent Stephen Newns at under-69kg.

Scotland also enjoyed a win courtesy of under-75kg fighter William Hutchinton, who triumphed 5-0 over Hungary's Viktor Arpad.

The competition, open to male boxers born in 1998 and 1999, is due to continue tomorrow.
