Isabell Werth led a German 1-2-3 on home soil at the International Equestrian Federation (FEI) Dressage World Cup in Stuttgart today.

The six-times Olympic champion, who also won the last leg of the World Cup season in Lyon, showed just why she has the number one partnership in the world with mare Weihegold.

Werth's freestyle score of 90.09 in Lyon was a personal best and although her winning tally of 89.416 today was lower, she thought the performance was better.

World number two Kristina Broring-Sprehe was second on board Desperados FRH with the duo scoring 86.306, while third place went to Fabienne Lutkemeier and D’Agostino who tallied 78.886.

The top two were both part of the team dressage Olympic champions from Rio 2016.

"She’s fantastic," said 47-year-old Werth about her horse.

"She’s always very polite and very uncomplicated, never spooky or tense.

"She is the perfect competition horse.

"Yesterday she was really relaxed and easy, this morning she was more alert, not tense but concentrated."

Werth now lies second on the Western European League leaderboard, just one point behind Switzerland’s Marcela Krinke-Susmelj, going into the next leg in Salzburg, Austria on December 11.
