A total of 16 nominations for positions on the International Floorball Federation (IFF) Athletes’ Commission have been received by the sport’s worldwide governing body.

Eight men and eight women have been put forward for a place on the Commission, which aims to give athletes a voice within the sport.

There are four spots for men and four for women up for grabs.

The male representatives will be elected during the men’s World Floorball Championships, due to take place in Latvian capital Riga from December 3 to 11, with all competing athletes entitled to vote.

The four female positions will be decided at the qualification events for the women’s World Championships, scheduled to be staged in February.

The women’s elections for the Commission, currently chaired by Magdalena Kotikova, who sits on the IFF’s ruling Central Board, will be the first to be held under the new system.

In June of this year, the Central Board rubber-stamped a ruling which means members of the Commission will be appointed for a four-year term instead of two, while moving the election itself from the World Championships to qualification events in order to allow more athletes to vote.

Australia’s Shaun Frazer, Junoh Lee of South Korea, Tero Tiitu of Finland, Norway’s Ole Mossin Olesen, Johan Samuelsson of Sweden, Manuel Engel of Switzerland, the Czech Republic’s Tomas Sladky and Frenchman Manaure Russo-Mendoza are the male nominations.

The four successful candidates will begin their tenure on the Commission in January, before new elections are held at World Championship qualification tournaments in February 2020.

Jill Roberts of Australia, Dutchwoman Lidwien Reehuis, Agata Plechan of Poland, Eliisa Alanko of Finland, Swede Josefina Eiremo, Japan’s Yui Takahashi, Martina Capkova of the Czech Republic and Canada’s Sonja Hotke are vying for the female places.

The winners will commence their term on March 1 and serve on the Commission until February 2021.
