Harald Andersson was one of four male Swedish players to win on home soil during the second day of qualification at the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) Swedish Open at Eriksdalshallen in Stockholm.

Andersson cruised into the main draw with a comfortable straight games win over Adam Szudi of Hungary.

Szudi was on the receiving end of a 11-6, 11-8, 11-9, 12-10 defeat to Andersson in what was a confident performance from the Swede.

Andersson will now face England's Liam Pitchford in the main competition's round of 64, which is due to start tomorrow.

There was further delight for the hosts as Viktor Brodd, Elias Ranefur and Hampus Nordberg all successfully progressed.

Brodd defeated South Korea's Kim Minhyeok 4-2 while Ranefur overcame Darko Jorgic of Slovenia 4-3 in a thriller.

Competing a triumphant day for Sweden was Nordberg as he secured a 4-2 win over China's Li Yijie.

In the only women's singles qualifying match of the day, Jinnipa Sawettabut of Thailand secured her passage into the main draw following an epic match with Belarus' Alina Nikitchanka.

Nikitchanka stormed into a lead, taking the opening two games 11-9 and 12-10.

After falling behind, Sawettabut began to click into gear and she gained the lead by winning the next three games 11-9, 11-9, 11-7.

Despite finding herself on the cusp of defeat, Nikitchanka levelled the match by taking the sixth game 11-6 to send the match into a decider.

It was the Thai player who would advance, however, as Sawettabut edged through by taking the decisive seventh game 11-7.

Tomorrow's schedule sees the beginning of the first round in both the women's and men's singles tournaments.

Last week's Austrian Open winners, Japan's Kenta Matsudaira and Mima Ito, are both in action.

Ito faces Lin Chia-Chih of Chinese Taipei while Matsudaira is drawn to play Frenchman Benjamin Brossier.
