Finance company LGT has signed a sponsorship deal with the World Curling Federation (WCF) to become the main sponsor of next year's Women's World Championship in Beijing.

The agreement, brokered by the WCF's media and marketing partner Infront Sports & Media, also includes the European Curling Championships for the next two years, starting with this month's edition in Scottish city Glasgow and also covering the 2017 tournament in St Gallen in Switzerland.

As part of LGT's package of rights, they will be given key exposure at the events, including under-ice advertising and advertising boards.

The logo of the banking group will feature on players' kit, the scoreboards and interview backdrops.

LGT will also be featured on all communications material while the company will receive a hospitality package that offers a behind-the-scenes tour and invitations to official events such as the Opening and Closing Ceremonies.

The company also sponsored this year's Men's World Championships in Swiss city Basel.

"We are delighted that LGT is committed to our flagship Championships," said WCF President Kate Caithness.

"As the popularity of curling continues to grow, we are confident that the brand will see even greater benefits to investing in our sport.

"Thank you to Infront for its ongoing drive to enhance the strength of our events."

Next year's Women's World Championships in the Chinese capital will give a taster of what to expect when the 2022 Winter Olympic Games are held in Beijing.

This year's Glasgow European Championships will begin on Saturday (November 19) at the Braehead Arena.

Heinrich Henckel, chief executive of LGT Bank Switzerland, said: "Curling is a very popular and widespread sport in Switzerland.

"For its success, determination, precision and concentration are essential.

"These values are important to us because they are also indicative of long-term success in private banking.

"We are very pleased to be a partner of the European and World Curling Championships in the coming years and to visit these highly professional and exciting events with our customers and guests."

Bruno Marty, executive director for winter sports at Infront, added: "The World Women’s Curling Championship is the first big winter sports event to be held in Beijing since the 2022 Winter Olympic Games were awarded.

"As a result, LGT is to receive a significant amount of exposure in this important region.

"With all eyes on the Chinese capital - the World Curling Championships will not disappoint."
