Chinese players dominated action in the men's competition as qualification matches continued at the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) Austrian Open at the Tips Arena in Linz today.

A total of five Chinese players secured progression to the next round.

Among them was Zhao Zhaoyan, on the winning side of a seven game thriller.

Zhao came back from one game down on three occasions to snatch the decisive fourth set to beat Kirill Skachkov of Russia 11-9, 10-12, 11-8, 8-11, 14-12, 9-11, 9-11.

His compatriot Zhu Cheng, meanwhile, had an easier time on court as he overcame Japan's Jin Takuya 10-12 ,3-11, 11-9, 8-11, 8-11.

Fang Yinchi was the third Chinese player thorough and he was later joined by fellow countrymen Wang Chuqin and Zhou Kai.

In the women's draw Japan's Mizuki Morizono improved her chances of reaching the main stages of the competition as she defeated Natalia Bajor of Poland.

The contest proved to be a seven-game thriller as Morizono triumphed 10-12, 11-4, 9-11, 11-9,12-14,13-11, 11-7.

The Japanese player is due to continue her campaign tomorrow where she will face Asian rival Lin Chia-Chih of Chinese Taipei.

Lin won in much more convincing fashion then her rival as she overcame Serbian Andrea Todorovic 8-11, 6-11, 16-18, 11-4, 4-11.

Continuing Asian dominance was Mak Tze Wing of Hong Kong.

The quarter-finalist at the 2015 World Junior Championships secured her place in the next round when she defeated France's Laura Gasnier 12-10, 8-11, 8-11, 13-15, 12-14.
