Australia’s divers will be hoping to make an impact on the International Swimming Federation (FINA) Diving Grand Prix during the penultimate event of the series in Gold Coast this weekend.

Preliminary action at the Gold Coast Aquatic Centre, due to stage diving and swimming at the 2018 Commonwealth Games, has already begun ahead of the finals taking place tomorrow and Sunday (October 30).

The home crowd will buoyed by three of their divers booking their places in finals following strong performances.

Mexican-born Kevin Chavez topped the standings in his men’s three metre springboard semi-final by scoring 402.15 points.

China’s Jianfeng Peng looks favourite to claim the gold medal after securing 421.75 points to win the second semi-final in front of the United States’ Jordan Windle, who scored 408.55.

The surprise of the semi-final was Bowen Huang failing to advance after scoring 367.00, with the Chinese diver unable to replicate his performance which saw him win a gold medal at last week’s Diving Grand Prix in Kuching in Malaysia.
