Ski and Snowboard Australia (SSA) has extended its partnership with Canada-based clothing company Karbon through to the 2018 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games in Pyeongchang, it has been announced.

The deal will see Karbon, established in Toronto in 1982, remain as the official clothing partner of SSA.

The company has been a key supporter of winter sport in Australia, providing outerwear and competition uniforms for athletes and coaches across the Olympic Winter Institute of Australia (OWIA) programmes since 2003.

"Karbon continue to be a generous and invaluable partner for our sport as a whole," SSA chief executive Michael Kennedy said.

"In addition to the enormous volume of outerwear supplied across multiple SSA sport programmes and pathways each year, there is additional financial support to SSA including sponsorship of our annual Ski & Snowboard Awards.

"We look forward to supporting and growing the partnership into the future."

The extension of the partnership comes with less than a year-and-a-half to go before Pyeongchang 2018, the first edition of the event to ever be held in South Korea, begin with the Olympics Opening Ceremony due to take on February 9.

Australia will be looking to win their first Winter Olympic gold medal since Vancouver 2010 at the Games in Pyeongchang having earned three silvers and a bronze at Sochi 2014.

Out of the 12 medals won by Australia at the Winter Games, nine have come in freestyle skiing and snowboarding.

"The Karbon brand has become synonymous with performance winter sports in Australia thanks to partnerships with organisations such as OWIA, the Australian Olympic Committee and SSA," Edward Fortey, Karbon’s representative in Australia, added.

"To that end we are pleased that the majority of SSA pathway programmes such as race clubs and freestyle programmes support the brand and the investment into the high performance pathway by choosing Karbon as their uniform partners.""
