Home top seed Hsu Jen-hao was dumped out of the Badminton World Federation (BWF) Chinese Taipei Masters on semi-finals day today.

The 24-year-old was favourite to progress to a home final at the Hsing Chuang Gymansium in capital city Taipei but was beaten in three straight games by India's unseeded player Sourabh Varma.

With the tournament utilising a best of five, first to 11 format, Varma came through with ease, 11-4, 11-7, 11-9.

He will now play Liew Daren of Malaysia in the final, who disappointed another home player in Chinese Taipei's Lin Yu-hsien.

Lin was the fifth seed, but unseeded Liew ensured there would be no home representation in the final as he came through 11-9, 6-11, 11-3, 12-10.

In the women's competition, the final of the Grand Prix Gold level event will be an all-Japanese affair.

The country was guaranteed at least one representative in the final and Saena Kawakami ensured it was her as she defeated compatriot Asuka Takahashi 11-7, 11-8, 11-8.

She will now meet the tournament's third seed Ayumi Mine, who also came through in straight games against Thailand's Pornpawee Chochuwong, 11-8, 11-4, 11-5.

Both finals will be played in Taipei tomorrow, with the doubles competitions also reaching their conclusion.

At the BWF Dutch Open, another Grand Prix Gold event running simultaneously, there will be Chinese Taipei involvement in the men's final.

Second seed Wang Tzu-wei came through his last four clash against Emil Holst of Denmark, 21-10, 21-15.

He will now play top seed Ajay Jayaram of India, who beat another Dane, Anders Antonsen, 21-18, 13-21, 21-13.

In the women's competition at the Topsportcentrum in Almere, American top seed Zhang Beiwen will meet another Taiwanese second seed, Hsu Ya-ching, in the final.

Beiwen beat Liang Xiaoyu of Singapore 21-10, 21-13 with Hsu coming past Beatriz Corrales of Spain 21-14, 21-10.
