The Badminton World Federation (BWF) Chinese Taipei Masters is due to get underway tomorrow in Taiwan, with home favourite and world number 27 Hsu Jen Hao the favourite in the men's singles.

The tournament in Taipei will be held at the Hsing Chuang Gymnasium with the finals taking place on Sunday (October 16).

A total prize purse of $55,000 (£40,000/€45,000) will be on offer.

All of the eight seeded players in the men's singles have received a bye in the first round.

Hsu will take on the winner of the first round match between England's Hin Shun Wong and Hong Kong's Lee Cheuk Yiu in round two.

Second seed and world number 40, Sameer Verma of India, will await the winner of the contest between Chinese Taipei's Chia Hung Lu and Krishna Ad Nugraha of Indonesia.

The favourite in the women's tournament is also from the host nation.

Pai Yu Po, the world number 22, leads the women's field and will take on Japan's Moe Araki in round one.

There are a number of women's singles qualification matches tomorrow and the winner of the match between Chinese Taipei's Lin Hsiang Ti and Fan Ka Yan of Hong Kong will go on to face the tournament's second seed Jing Yi Tee of Malaysia in a daunting round one contest.

Hong Kong's Tam Chun Hei and Ho Wai Lun face a tough opening clash in the men's doubles competition as they came up against number one seeds and home favourites Chen Hung Ling and Chi-Lin Wang.

Meanwhile, the second seeds will be hoping to nullify the potentially hostile atmosphere inside the Hsing Chuang Gymnasium.

Hong Kong's Or Chin Chung and his partner Tang Chun Man come up against local favourites Hung Ying Yuan and Lin Chia Hao in round one.

Elsewhere, all four of the top seeds have been awarded free passage into round two of both the women's and mixed doubles competitions.

Round one and a number of qualification matches in all five competitions get underway tomorrow (October 11).

The event is one of two Grand Prix Gold level events beginning tomorrow, with the Dutch Open taking place at Topsportcentrum in Almere.

The top seed in the men's singles is India's Ajay Jayaram, with American Zhang Beiwen top ranked in the women's event.
