Andrea Arsovic put her Rio 2016 Olympic disappointment behind her by claiming her first International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) World Cup Final gold medal in the women's 10 metre air rifle.

The Serbian finished 26th at August's Olympic Games in the Brazilian city but was in fine form today at the Bolgona Shooting Range in Italy.

After two silver medals previously at the ISSF's season-ending event, the 29-year-old tallied 209.0 points to finally win the coveted crystal globe trophy.

Two Olympic champions came behind her, with China's London 2012 gold medallist Yi Siling, who won bronze in Rio, taking silver today with a score of 208.7 as she sought a fourth World Cup title.

American Virginia Thrasher, who won the very first gold medal of the Rio 2016 Games in any sport, took World Cup bronze on 185.5.

"I am very happy that I finally won the ISSF globe," said Arsovic.

"I have been trying for a long time.

"I came here in Bologna to win.

"The Chinese shooter is very strong, but I finally made it.

"The Olympics did not turn in the way I expected.

"That was really hard.

"I had prepared for years for that event.

"But when I got back home I received a lot of support from my family and the people around me.

"That gave me the strength to continue, and to go for another Olympic cycle.

"Today’s victory is also a great motivation."

In the men's 10m air rifle, Hungary's Peter Sidi triumphed with a score of 207.7, aided by a 10.8 with his final shot.

Rio 2016 bronze medallist Vladimir Maslennikov of Russia took silver with 207.2 as bronze went to Iran's Hossein Bagheri on 186.1.

On a busy day of finals, Serbia won a second title as Damir Mikec took 10m men's air pistol honours with a score of 202.9.

Beijing 2008 Olympic champion Pang Wei of China claimed silver on 199.7, with Turkey's Ismail Keles bagging bronze on 178.4.

The women's 10m pistol event saw gold for Mexico’s Alejandra Zavala Vazquez who prevailed after a shoot-off against Greece's Rio 2016 double medallist Anna Korakaki, 9.8 to 9.1.

China's Zhang Menxue won bronze.
