Chicago won the 2016 International Basketball Federation (FIBA) World Tour Americas Masters title after they beat Brazil’s São Paulo DC 21-13 in the final in Mexico City.

The champions won all five of their games at the Perisur Shopping Mall to extend their undefeated record to 22 victories and no defeats since their 3x3 debut this summer.

As a result of their victory, Chicago have now secured their place at the World Tour Finals in Abu Dhabi on October 27 and 28.

Myke Henry and team-mate Stefhon Hannah scored eight points apiece in the final, while Alfonzo McKinnie added five.

The 23-year-old Henry was the top scorer in the whole competition with 46 points and, as a result, was named as the tournament's MVP.

The athletic Leandro Lima scored five points for São Paulo in their losing effort.

Local favourite Maurice Riddick, who represents Mexican team Mexico DF, established an all-time record in the shoot-out contest with 15 points.

American pro-dunker Chris Staples also sent the crowd into raptures with some jaw-dropping moves in the dunk contest, which included a 360 dunk between the legs over two cheerleaders and a one-handed "scorpion" dunk.

Chicago have joined Caguas of Puerto Rico, Novi Sad Al Wahda of the United Arab Emirates, Ljubljana of Slovenia and Saskatoon of Canada in qualifying for Abu Dhabi by winning a Masters event.

The other seven finalists earned their place through finishing in the top 12 in the World Tour season standings.

They are Gdansk from Poland, São Paulo DC, Piran and Kranj, both of Slovenia, Russian side St Petersburg, Hamamatsu of Japan and Serbian team Belgrade.
