The move follows proposals made by members from across the world, with a two week consultation process launched.

BISFed has already revealed six rule changes that the Rules Committee is ready to make immediately, which are available to view here.

Further topics will be introduced over the two weeks with input asked for so the "correct changes" can be made.

"The Rules Committee’s desire is to have the rules be as fair as possible for everyone, and to be as clear as possible for everyone," said a BISFed statement.

The rule changes will be published each day on the BISFed website.

Seven Paralympic gold medals were won in boccia at Rio 2016.  

Thailand topped the medal table in the sport with two golds, won by Watcharaphon Vongsa in the mixed individual BC2 event and by the mixed team line-up in the BC1-2 class.

The Asian country also won one silver medal and two bronzes for a total haul of five.

South Korea were the second best performing country with one gold, one silver and one bronze.
