The Swiss Broadcasting Corporation (SRG SSR) has signed a media rights deal for flagship International Ski Federation (FIS) competitions.

Included as part of the deal are all FIS World Cup events from the 2016-2017 season through to 2020-2021, as well as FIS World Championships in 2017, 2019 and 2021.

It means Swiss fans will be able to watch the action on the broadcaster's television radio and digital platforms, with Alpine, Nordic, snowboard and freestyle disciplines all covered in the winter sports superpower.

In addition, SRG SSR has also signed a deal for highlights from the 2019 and 2021 FIS Alpine and Nordic World Championships.

The company will also broadcast the 2017 Freestyle Ski and Snowboard World Championships, due to be held in Sierra Nevada in Spain between March 6 and 19.

Infront Sports and Media secured the rights agreement between the two parties.

Roland Mägerle, head of the business sport unit at SRG, said: "We are pleased to be able to comprehensively report on the FIS World Cup and World Championship events for the long-term future. 

"Our audience will be able to closely follow the success stories of our winter sports athletes on the SRG channels and platforms - providing the expected high standard and quality. 

"In the upcoming season, the German speaking part of Switzerland will benefit from an even more comprehensive snow sports offer on TV, radio and digital channels and an expanded live broadcast."

Infront have also recently brokered sponsorship deals for the International Biathlon Union and the International Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation.

The company was chosen by the FIS as the overall commercial partner for the 2019 and 2021 Alpine and Nordic World Skiing Championships.
