The German Olympic Sports Confederation (DOSB) has launched a programme aimed at increasing the proportion of people with disabilities in full-time employment in sport.

The DOSB project "Skills for the Practice" has the objective of improving the participation of people with disabilities not only in sports, but also in working life.

For this, a panel selected the 10 sports organisations from a number of high quality applications that are due to launch the first phase of the project from January 1 next year.

They include the German Motor Sport Association, German Youth Gymnastics and Disabled Sports Department of the Society for Orthopaedic Aid.

The jury was composed of a representative from the Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs, the German Disabled Sports Association, the German Deaf Sports Association, Special Olympics Germany, the DOSB Leadership Academy, the German Disability Council and the DOSB.

A total of 20 full-time jobs will be created for two years and occupied by people with disabilities.

The disabled employees/students should be active depending on need and inclination in the subject area inclusion and will be trained by qualification modules and training.

The project is funded by the Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs.
