A process has begun to select new Athletes' Commission members for USA Taekwondo, to oversee the development of the sport building up to Tokyo 2020.

An initial election will allow qualified athlete voters to select two athlete representatives from both Olympic and Paralympic taekwondo, to also serve on the United States Olympic Committee (USOC) Athlete Advisory Committee.

Athletes must submit their Nomination Application and complete a safety background check by October 13.

An online voting process will then begin the following day and remain open until those selected are announced on November 15.

A second election, taking place immediately after the USOC one is finished, will then take place for the USA Taekwondo Athletes' Commission.

Two poomsae and five sparring athletes are due to be announced on November 30.

Athlete Commissions are seen as a key means by which to get a better representation in sporting bodies.

More information on how to register is available here.

Those eligible must have been a USA Taekwondo member for at least 60 days prior to November 28.
