Leading United States' skiers Christin Cooper and Steve Cook are among four individuals set to be inducted into the Intermountain Ski Hall of Fame at the Utah Olympic Park in Park City, it has been announced.

Cooper, a giant slalom silver medal winner at Sarajevo 1988, is added after making a successful transition from sporting to broadcasting ranks.

She is considered the country’s first female expert analyst for skiing, and has since featured heavily on both the CBS and NBC networks.

Also added is Steve Cook, a seven-time Paralympic Nordic skiing medallist who followed four silver medals at Salt Lake City 2002 with double gold at Turin 2006.

After losing his right leg in a farming accident in 1988, he also competed in road cycling at the Atlanta 1996 Summer Games before switching sports.

Cook has since turned to coaching where he has helped develop a sucessful Nordic programme for US athletes.

The two ex-athletes will be joined by Olympic ski jumper turned Group Rossignol American President Ron Steele and chairlift engineer Jan Leonard, who will be added posthomously after dying in August 2015.

A reception is due to be held on September 21 at the Alf Engen Museum in the Park.

“We’re thrilled to be recognising Christin, Steve, Ron and Jan for their contributions to the skiing world,” said Alf Engen executive director Connie Nelson.

“They represent the very best of the Intermountain region, and their exemplary achievements have sounded across and shaped skiing the world over.”

The Intermountain Ski Hall of Fame commemorates individuals who have recorded exemplary achievements in skiing or snowboarding competition.

Those who have "innovated and developed" winter sport will also be considered, along with those who have "made significant contributions to the overall promotion of skiing/snowboarding in the Intermountain Region" consisting of Utah, Idaho and Wyoming.

Others to be added have included five-time world moguls champion and freestyle skiing pioneer Karen Huntoon-Miller.
