Georgia claimed two gold medals on home soil on the opening day of action at the 2016 Cadet World Wrestling Championships in Tbilisi.

Giorgi Shotadze and Leri Abuladze won Georgia's golds in the Greco-Roman 50 and 54 kilogram categories respectively.

Shotadze convincingly defeated Anzor Karagulov of Russia 6-2 in the 50kg final after an impressive day saw him drop just four points in his four matches.

Turkey's Abdullah Toprak and Zaur Nuriyev of Azerbaijan both won the division's bronze medals.

Toprak thrashed Kaito Inaba of Japan 8-0 whilst Nuriyev narrowly beat Poya Soulat Dad Marz of Iran 6-4.

In the 54kg event, Abuladze narrowly defeated Turkey's Kerem Kamal after he scored the final and most significant point in a 3-3 draw.

Abuladze won by virtue of scoring the final point which, in the event of a tie, secures the wrestler victory.

Similarly to Shotadze, Abuladze was in impressive form all day as he secured victories in the last 16, quarter-finals and semi-finals all by 8-0 scorelines.

The bronze medals in this category were won by Zholaman Sharshenbekov of Kyrgyzstan and Russia's Anar Mansurov.

Sharshenbekov saw off Elnur Musayev of Azerbaijan 3-1 whilst Mansurov secured his bronze in comfortable fashion, defeating India's Sachin Rana 7-0.
