Men's singles top seed Wei Nan disappointed home favourite Enzi Shafira to reach the second round of the Badminton World Federation (BWF) Indonesia Masters.

The Hong Kong player, who won a bronze medal at the 2014 Asian Games in Incheon in South Korea, came through 21-14, 21-13 at the Grand Prix Gold level event.

There was also straight-forward progression for India's third seed Ajay Jayaram, who knocked out another home Indonesian hope in Yehezkiel Fritz Mainaky.

The Indian proved to be far too strong, progressing thanks to a 21-8, 21-9 success.

A home victory did come through fourth seed Jonatan Christie, although the number four seed was playing compatriot Tri Haryanto.

Christie, part of the Indonesian team who won gold at the Asian Championships in Hyderabad in India this year, went through 21-8, 21-8.
