The moves comes as the worldwide governing body bid to increase their online presence for Rio 2016, scheduled to run from September 7 to 18, and beyond.

The IWBF have completed phase one of the transition, which has involved establishing a new website to "provide the ultimate user-friendly experience with improved navigation and functionality".

After the Games in Rio have finished, more work is set to be undertaken on the site to ensure it becomes the central hub for wheelchair basketball news and event information.

In a separate initiative, the IWBF are also calling for keen bloggers to produce articles for their website on a range of topics, including tips, lessons and why they follow the sport of wheelchair basketball.

"A new website for IWBF has been an immediate priority in the last few months." IWBF President Ulf Mehrens said. 

"We know the Paralympic Games drives a huge amount of awareness for the sport and we wanted to make the sport as easily accessible as possible to the wider public, as well as providing more information on the happenings of wheelchair basketball to our wheelchair."

The IWBF revealed the draw for the wheelchair basketball competitions at Rio 2016, due to be held at the Carioca Arena 1 from September 8 to 17, last month.

Reigning women’s Paralympic champions Germany will begin their Rio 2016 campaign with a match against the host country Brazil in Group A, which also features Canada, Britain and Argentina.

Group B in the women's tournament includes Algeria, China, France, the United States and The Netherlands.

In the men’s competition, Paralympic champions Canada will open their campaign to claim another gold medal against Spain in Group A.

World champions Australia also feature in the group and will begin with a tie against the Netherlands, while Turkey and Japan will meet.

Hosts Brazil open Group B with a match against the United States, with European champions Britain taking on Algeria while Iran go up against Germany.
