Russian wrestler reportedly accuses country's wrestling federation chief of hitting her after defeat

According to the Sport-Express, Russian wrestler Inna Trazhukova has accused the head of the country’s wrestling federation, Mikhail Mamiashvili, of hitting her in the face after losing her bronze medal bout.

The Russian competed in the women’s 63kg freestyle event on Thursday, but was beaten 6-3 by Poland’s Monika Michalik to miss out on one of the two bronze medals.

Trazhukova claims Mamiashvili was rude to her and hit her twice in the face in the aftermath of the contest.

“He embarrassed me in public,” Trazhukova said.

“I want to stop this so female athletes in the future don’t suffer because of him.”

According to the Independent, Trazhukova has stated she will file charges when she returns to Moscow.

Mamiashvili has reportedly acknowledged that he had a “harsh conversation” with the wrestler but denied he had hit her.
