The International Modern Pentathlon Union (UIPM) has announced the launch of its first ever "Coaches Platform".

The aim of the new facility is to provide coaches of all UIPM sports worldwide with a portal for education, interaction and collaboration.

Some features of the new system include a closed platform for coaches to communicate and collaborate with each other, a facility to make it easier to document and publish useful resources and a forum allowing coaches to communicate on projects involving communities.

A contacts database for the storage of coaches' biographical and contact information is also available as well as a calendar to mark important events and information about them.

The Coaches Platform follows the last month's launch of a new UIPM website.

"For UIPM it is always important to keep up with the times and that's why we need to modernise and develop our website for the benefit of our sport, for our UIPM family, for our fans and for the media," said UIPM President Dr Klaus Schormann.

"It is another sign of our ambition to make modern pentathlon and the other UIPM sports as inclusive as possible and more accessible to people throughout the world who want to know more about sport and get involved."

UIPM has been active in developing the service it offers to coaches, and places are still available at the fourth World Coaches Conference in Manchester in November 2016.

Coaches are also encouraged to write about their experiences of using the platform with the writer of the best feedback receiving travel and accommodation to the 2016 UIPM conference.
