Paralympic hosts Brazil remain top of the International Blind Sports Federation (IBSA) world rankings after the latest update.

The reigning men's world and Paralympic champions will continue to be the team to beat at Rio 2016 after preserving their top spot status.

The IBSA Football Committee released the update after teams gained several points to boost their rankings, including at a number of friendly tournaments so far this year.

Brazil will take on European champions Turkey in Group A at Rio 2016, with their opponents occupying sixth spot on the latest rankings.

Their other group opponents, Asian and African continental champions Iran and Morocco, lie ninth and 14th respectively.

The hosts' South American rivals Argentina are second in the latest world rankings as they prepare to compete in Group B at Rio 2016.

Fourth ranked China and 13th place Russia will also join Argentina in the group, along with Parapan American Games qualifiers Mexico, who are 17th.

Spain are third in the world rankings, despite failing to qualify for the Paralympic Games,

At Rio 2016, the top two sides from each group will progress to the semi-finals.

The countries who finish in the bottom two spots will compete in the fifth to eighth place classification round.

Competition is due to take place from September 9 to 17.
