Hong Kong's Wong Wing Ki won the Badminton World Federation (BWF) Vietnam Open title today with a three-game victory in Ho Chi Minh City.

The number four seed came through against Chong Wei Feng of Malaysia, 21-12, 14-21, 21-13, in a topsy-turvy contest at the Nguyen Du Stadium.

Chong, the 11th seed, had enjoyed a good run to the final but the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games mixed team champion could not clinch the title.

The Hong Kong player was the best ranked in the competition after the first round stage, when third see Wei Nan - his compatriot - was knocked out.

The top two seeds - Hu Yun and Ng Ka Long, both also of Hong Kong - withdrew before a shuttlecock had been hit.
