European Paralympic Committee (EPC) President John Peterson has praised the organisation of Para-events at the European Universities Games (EUG) in Croatia.

Para swimming and Para-table tennis were both introduced to the sport programme of the EUG for the first time in its history.

Peterson claimed the organisation of the competitions have both proved a success, having watched the finale of the table tennis events.

"The organisation is great,” he said.

“It’s obvious that everything was well planned, since everything is very close and convenient.

“Students with disabilities and we from the Committee are happy to be part of this great story."

The University of Zagreb were left celebrating two triumphs, with Danijel Lazov crowned the class 1-4 champion, before Andela Muzinic won the class 3-5 event.

Elias Debeyssac, representing the University of Bordeaux, was able to triumph in the class 6-8 competition, while the Class 9-10 event saw the National Sports Academy Vasil Levski’s Denislav Kodjabashev top the podium.

Following the completion of the competitions, the University of Zagreb’s Anto Joskic praised the decision to include Para-sports at the Games.

"The integration of Para-sports at the European University Games is a great evolution,” he said.

“Everybody should get the opportunity to compete, no matter if you are handicapped or not.”
