The International Skating Union (ISU) has opted to hold a course for speed skating referees ahead of the new season.

The event will be held in the American Winter Sports hub of Park City, between September 29 and October 2.

As the host country, US Speedskating will help to organise the event in Utah alongside the ISU's Speed Skating Technical Committee.

The course will cover all the main aspects of an official's role and the tasks of referees at ISU Championships, World Cup competitions and other major international events.

Special regulations and technical rules implemented by the ISU will be especially addressed, with theoretical and practical sessions held.

There will also be tests and examinations, with all participants needing to have recent refereeing experience at major competitions, and a good knowledge already of ISU rules.

The entire course will be conducted in English, with full details available here.
