The International Fencing Federation (FIE) has launched a new mobile app for next month’s Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.

Entitled "Rio Loves Fencing", the app is available now worldwide on the App Store and Google Play.

It is said to have been designed with the needs of sports fans, fencing aficionados and the media in mind, providing everything they need to know about the sport at Rio 2016.

Sections include latest news, image gallery, videos, fencer bios, rules of fencing and live results.

Fencing competitions at Rio 2016 are scheduled to take place from August 6 to 14 at the Carioca Arena 3 venue.

Around 212 fencers are expected to compete in 10 events - six individual and four team.

Italy topped the sport's medal standings at London 2012, claiming three golds, two silvers and two bronzes.

South Korea came second with two golds, one silver and three bronzes, while China were third with two golds and one bronze.
