Canada produced a superb performance to sweep aside France and claim the Women’s Rugby Super Series title in Salt Lake City.

After a tight opener, French captain Gaelle Mignot gave her side the lead with a try in the 27th minute.

This provided the boost Canada needed to come to life, however, with Barbara Mervin eventually scoring a try after more than 20 phases.

It was converted by Andrea Burk for a 7-5 lead.

Burk dived in to score in the corner before superbly converting her own try, before a first test try by Federique Rajotte made it 19-5 at the interval.

France fought back through a second Mignot try in the second-half, only for Olivia DeMerchant to charge over from the breakdown to re-open clear daylight.

Latoya Blackwood made it certain with a fifth try for Canada in the 77th minute to seal an emphatic 29-10 victory.

It followed a 52-17 victory over England, the team that beat Canada in the 2014 World Cup final, before a 33-5 win over United States.

The team now leapfrog England and move to fourth in the world rankings.

England won their final match of the tournament 39-13 over the US hosts.

"It's a pretty impressive performance by all of our players in the three games," said interim senior women's head coach Shaun Allen.

"We showed a lot of heart, a lot of tenacity.

"Today was as close to a complete performance as we could put together."
