American wrestlers proved the dominant force at the Pan American Cadet Championships after they earned five gold medals to secure the overall team title in Peru.

Colin Valdiviez claimed the first title of the competition as he battled through a tightly fought under 54 kilogram gold medal contest against Venezuela’s Joshua Soto Cardenas, ultimately prevailing on criteria after the bout ended 4-4.

Argentina’s Lautaro Pereyra and Puerto Rico’s Bryan Hernandez Martinez finished as the bronze medal winners in the weight division.

Tyler Dow then triumphed for the American team in the 69kg event after pinning down Ecuador’s Sergio Godoy Vite, with Mexico’s Raul Palacios Dominguez and Canada’s Adam Scott completing the podium.

American success continued with Jake Hendricks and Michael Beard triumphing in both the under 76 and 85kg divisions after winning all three of their ties.

Both men enjoyed straightforward finals as Beard earned a technical fall victory over Canada’s Tejvir Boal, with Hendricks winning in the same manner in his tie against Thales Alves of Brazil.
