The Philippine Taekwondo Association (PTA) and the Korean Cultural Center (KCC) in Manila have teamed up to organise an exhibition to showcase the sport.


“Soul of Korea: Taekwondo”, which opened on June 9 and is due to last until August 19, features a history and development of the taekwondo, as well as different techniques and principles of the sport. 

It also highlights the events and international activities which led to the sport becoming so popular around the world.

The exhibit aims to enhance the status of taekwondo in the Philippines and share its spirit. 

The exhibition displays taekwondo-related materials and technologies such as electronic protectors, sandbag kicks and various types of uniforms. 

An experience zone and photo zone is also available to give visitors the opportunity to try taekwondo themselves. 

PTA also have taekwondo high-skills demonstrations for guests and visitors to witness during their trip to the exhibition.

"I hope that through this exhibit more Filipinos will express their interest in learning taekwondo," said KCC director Oh Choong Suk.

Hong Sung-Chon, chairman of the PTA, is excited by the opportunity that the exhibition will help attract more people to the sport. 

"It is the first taekwondo exhibit in the Philippines and I hope that this exhibit will help more Filipinos to understand and be interested with taekwondo," he said.
