Spain’s preparations for Rio 2016 have received a further boost after their National Paralympic Committee extended its sponsorship agreement with public lottery company Loterias y Apuestas del Estado.

Under the deal struck by the Spanish Paralympic Committee (CPE), the grant system for the nation’s Para-athletes will remain in place.

The company will continue to provide support to Spanish competitors at major international events, such as World Championships.

The money will also be used towards high-quality training material for Spanish athletes in the build-up to the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games, which take place from September 7 to 18.

The agreement between the SPC and the Loterias y Apuestas del Estado was signed at a ceremony secretary general Miguel Sagarra, also a member of the International Paralympic Committee Governing Board, and Loterias President Inmaculada Garcia.

“I want to thank Loterias for its support,” said Sagarra.

“We are hoping to obtain good results at Rio 2016.”

The company have been a longstanding supporter of the CPE having been part of the Paralympic Sport Support Plan Objective (ADOP) since 2014.

A number of Spanish entities have partnered with the initiative, which aims to financially back Spain’s Para-athletes, including communications provider Telefonica, airline Iberia and sports chain Decathlon.

It was announced earlier this year that Food company ElPozo and Valencian sportswear company Luanvi were to sponsor Spain’s team in the build-up to Rio 2016.

ElPozo signed their sponsorship agreement at the headquarters of the Higher Sports Council in Madrid.

They joined Luanvi, who had already agreed a deal at the company’s headquarters in Valencia.

Luanvi have joined as the official supplier of apparel for the Spanish Paralympic team.

Luanvi President Vicente Tarancón and CPE President Miguel Carballeda signed the agreement, which will help provide kit and equipment for the athletes.
