Organisers of the fourth edition of the World Modern Pentathlon Coaches Conference (WMPCC) have launched a competition to discover the best examples of coaching in the sport.

The Conference, scheduled to take place in Manchester between November 11 and 13, is aimed at allowing coaches from across the world to develop their knowledge and share their experiences.

The city played host to last year’s edition of the Conference and was attended by a record number of participants.

Pentathlon GB’s performance director Jan Bartu, British Dressage’s Richard Waywood and British Eventing’s Yogi Breisner were among the speakers at the two-day event, as well as renowned psychiatrist Dr Steve Peters.

To increase engagement ahead of the conference, organisers have unveiled a competition to uncover examples of excellent coaching in the sport.

Entitled “Making A Difference: My Approach To Modern Pentathlon Coaching”, the contest will see participants submit one paper of between 3,000 and 4,000 words to the judges.

Papers must not have previously been submitted in a professional publication at the time of submission, while all entries must have been received before midnight on September 30.

Entries should be sent to [email protected]

The panel of judges, which will be created by the International Modern Pentathlon Union (UIPM), GB Pentathlon, the UIPM Coaches Committee and the UIPM Instructor Group, will select the best two entries by October 7.

Both of the winners will be rewarded with flights to the conference and their stay in Manchester will be fully covered.

They will then make a presentation of their work to attendees at the conference.

A range of subjects related to coaching activities and methods are set to be presented during conference, with organisers welcoming ideas from attendees.
