Belarus beat South Korea 56-39 in today’s fifth-place playoff at the women's International Basketball Federation (FIBA) Olympic Qualifying Tournament in France to secure the last spot for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.

Inspired by Lindsey Harding, Anastasiya Verameyenka and Tatyana Troina, all of whom combined for 39 points, Belarus ensured their return to the Olympics for the first time since Beijing 2008.

Although South Korea tied the contest at 12-12 early in the second quarter, they never led in the entire match at Nantes' La Trocardière.

Belarus join Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Japan, Senegal, Serbia, Spain and Turkey at this year's Olympics, where action is due to take place from August 6 to 20.

China, Spain Turkey and France, the London 2012 silver medallists, all secured qualification by reaching the quarter-finals at this event.

Like Belarus, they have drawn into the two groups of six teams previously determined as part of the official draw of the Rio 2016 women's Olympic basketball tournament, held on March 11 at FIBA's headquarters.
