Queensland-based company GPY&R Brisbane have been appointed by Gold Coast 2018 as the Official Creative Services Agency for the Commonwealth Games, it was announced today. 

The firm is to develop campaigns that maximise public awareness and spectator participation in the Games.

The company have previously worked with the National Rugby League club Cronulla Sharks and the Australian Football League and is part of a global network of 186 GPY&R agencies.

Brisbane will be the lead office for the Gold Coast 2018.

Additional support will be provided by offices in Melbourne, Sydney and New Zealand.

“With less than two years to go until the 4 April 2018 Opening Ceremony, we are entering a very exciting phase in the delivery of the Games,” Gold Coast 2018 chairman Peter Beattie said.

Beattie added: “Over the next twelve months we will launch our Ticketing, Volunteer, Merchandise and Queen’s Baton Relay programmes which will all rely heavily on creative, eye-catching initiatives and, most importantly, campaigns that motivate people to get involved.

“The creative behind all of these campaigns will be critical to their ultimate success and it is wonderful that we are in such good hands with the team at GPY&R Brisbane."

GPY&R Brisbane general manager Fiona Caird claimed her entire team are proud to be part of the biggest event in Australia this decade.

“For us there is huge excitement in this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to support world-class sporting talent, capture the attention of a worldwide audience and raise awareness of the Commonwealth Games like never before,” Caird said.
